The government of Nigeria has reissued a call for expressions of interest from dam safety experts to serve on a panel to review and advise on dam safety and other critical aspects of seven dams and a reservoir in Nigeria. Responses now are due June 30.
The government previously called for responses by January 15 under its Transforming Irrigation Management in Nigeria Project (TRIMING).
Under the TRIMING program, the government also recruited consultants in May to provide dam safety training, design and feasibility studies and construction supervision of multi-purpose reservoir and irrigation projects. Nigeria’s water resources minister said in March the government will include or add hydroelectric power generating facilities to all existing and future dams within the country.
