Amosun, Ajimobi, Aregbesola Preach Southwest Unity

Three governors in the South West part of the country yesterday called on their people to strive towards achieving unity of the Yoruba race for them to occupy their rightful place in Nigeria.

Senator Ibikunle Amosun, of Ogun and his Oyo and Osun states counterparts, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, agreed that unity will bring about regional integration for the people.

The call was made in their remarks at the Afenifere’s Tributes Day organised by the pan-Yoruba group in memory of late Sir Olaniwun Ajayi at his Isara-Remo home, Ogun state.

The governors after paying tributes to the late Ajayi, maintained that they must all work together as a group irrespective of political affiliation.

In his remark, Amosun said political leaders in the region should be wary of political mischiefs capable of polarising the southwest saying efforts to champion the cause of Yoruba nation must be pursued with vigour.

Speaking, Governor Abiola Ajimobi after describing the deceased as a patriot called on members of Afenifere to continue flying the flag of unity in the southwest.

In his comments Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who tagged his tribute ‘A Star Falls’, said quality and concrete unity must be put in place, rather than a blanket unity for Yoruba nation to excel further.

In their respective tributes, chieftains of Afenifere and dignitaries present at the event, praised the late Ajayi for his forthright and determination to ensure unity in the southwest in particular and Nigeria in general.
