Nigeria to play Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire in August 2017

Pinnick confirmed the Super Eagles will play Senegal in August 2017 while the game against Cote d’Ivoire is still in the works.

Just before the 2018 FIFA World Cup double header qualifiers against Cameroon, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will play Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire in a friendly game in August 2017.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have been looking to arrange friendly games against African oppositions to prepare the Super Eagles for their World Cup qualifying fixtures against Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia.

The President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick has now confirmed that the Super Eagles will play Senegal in August 2017 while the game against Cote d’Ivoire is still in the works.

Pinnick believes that these two oppositions would help the Super Eagles to adequately prepare for the World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

We have reasoned that it won’t make sense playing Germany or Wales when the Super Eagles would face a physical side like Cameroon,” Pinnick told Sun Newspapers.

“So, as we speak, we have secured a friendly against Senegal and we are working on playing Cote d’Ivoire.

“These are two games that would adequately prepare us for the Cameroon games since they both play the same style of football with Cameroon.

As reported earlier, Egypt are looking to secure the Super Eagles for a friendly game in January 2017 to prepare for their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
